SPARK
3 and 4 year old Children

SPARK (Supporting Partnerships to Assure Ready Kids) is a family focused program providing support to families preparing their preschool-age children for kindergarten. SPARK helps children get ready for school by building reading, math, language and social skills. We help to create a seamless and successful transition to kindergarten. The SPARK program is offered at NO COST to families in Cuyahoga County.

If you live in Cuyahoga County and have a child eligible to start kindergarten in the school year 2027-2028 or 2028-2029, click here to learn more and enroll. We will contact you directly.

SPARK Ohio works with children, families, schools and the community to ensure that children are ready for school and schools are ready for families.  Family Connections, in partnership with Invest in Children, is the service provider for SPARK Ohio in Cuyahoga County.  We proudly join the 9 other counties in Ohio that provide this program.

SPARK is based on a home visitation model.  Trained home visitors called parent partners conduct prescribed lessons with preschool-age children and their parents.  Lessons are based on Ohio’s Early Learning and Development Standards.  Services include:

  • Home- and group-based learning opportunities
  • Developmental assessments, screenings and linkages to community resources
  • Education supplies and free books
  • Step-by-step support for registration and transition into kindergarten

SPARK is open to any family in Cuyahoga County!
