What Is Family Connections?

Mission

Family Connections strengthens families with young children so that every child is ready to learn and every parent is supported in the vital, time-limited work of raising them. We believe, and four decades of practice confirm, that strong families build strong communities.

Elevator Pitch

Family Connections is a 40-year-old early childhood nonprofit serving families with children from birth to five across Cuyahoga County. Through free, research-based programs, home visiting, developmental play, and parent support, we help children arrive at kindergarten ready to succeed, using a two-generation model that strengthens parent and child together.

Why it matters:

The years before kindergarten shape a child’s whole trajectory, and we don’t get them back. Yet too many families move through them without the support, information, or community they need, and the gap that opens early is expensive and slow to close later. Family Connections closes it at the source: a continuous, birth-to-five path grounded in the Five Protective Factors and delivered by a stable, trusted team. The result is measurable: children better prepared for school, and families better equipped for everything after.
